Got one of my hogs processed.

There is a good processor 2 minutes east of MAyo, Gary. So far we are impressed with him. You just drive up with the critter on the tailgate, and he takes care of it from there.

I am also gonna start doing some curing of hams. I just got my supply of instacure #1 in the mail. I got a good recipe and instructions on how to do it

Yeah, I've got the processor's address and number in my phone already!

Let me know how the instacure works. Been reading up on it, and I betcha I can make a pretty good ham! That and bacon, too. All the main food groups!

My only complaint with him, if there is one is this. He is not a deer n hog processor, per se..He is a slaughter house that does process deer and hogs, and he has set hours of operation. However, he lives next door to the shop. So there may be a chance you drive over there and noone be there. Worst case scenario is you would have to hang the animal(there is an electric winch), gut it and pull it in the cooler, if he is not there. I did have to drive over there a few times to pick my deer up because he was out running his hog traps. Now I got his cell#, so I call his azz to make sure he is there. If you call the main #, it is gonna ring in a small office about the size of a phone booth, in the back corner of the shop, that noone is sitting in. Thats the reason I got his cell#

I have heard these people are great, i think a bit pricey but real close to my lease, so for you PC people:

Deer Shack 850-872-0286 (HOG & DEER), East Ave (NEW LOCATION)Lynn Haven/Panama City, They are open 8 AM to 9PM attended and prefer the animal with the skin on... people say they are very good,, your backstrap, hams and cube steak included: all sausage $100, hamburger $70 or 50/50 $90, they skin free and gutting is $10 The deer is hung up for a week in the cooler and back to you in 2-3 weeks after killing. Hogs are similar price and depend on weight.

How does the price compare with everyone??

My guys fee on deer is $75. That is pulling up with the deer unskinned/ungutted in the back of your truck. That is anything you want done, (with the exception of smoked sausage being more). And it is all vacuum sealed
