So I am not new to hunting but I am new to skinning and butchering myself. My ex's father used to do all my cleaning for me. To be truthful, most info I know has come from how to videos on youtube. Any and all help would be extremely helpful and appreciated. Also, I will be doing my next trip over by the Orlando area. Should I clean it out there, attempt to butcher in the bed of my truck and pack on ice? or can I drive back to Pinellas(approx 2 hours) with the hog not spoiling in direct sunlight.
skin it gut it and put it right in the cooler dont wait! leave it in the cooler on ice for 3 days or so replace the ice and drain the bloddy water as needed , then bucher it out. good luck!
Ping me when ur over this way. I'm just NE of Orlando. You really do need to skin it out, gut it, and get it on ice as soon as possible. Bring some big heavy trash bags to put the meat in before you put it in the cooler. Depending on what kind of cuts you want out of the hog and the size of it, will determine how you butcher it.
sounds good, thanks for the advice. hopefully i will be able to use advice! been coming up empty last few times out
