I did own a Hi-point 9mm RIFLE. Got it at one of the first gun shows I went to. It was a cool little gun. Looked sorta like a "poor mans AR15". I cleaned it real good, like I do all my guns, went out to the woods to shoot it and could not keep it from jamming. I tried 3 different types-grains-styles of ammo in it and all 3 jammed. There are some very good reviews on Hi-point, and there are many bad reviews as well. Once a gun fails me, I cannot trust it and therefore it has to go. I sold it for exactly what I paid for it.
The pistols do seem to have a bit better of a review.
I've sold two of my rifles and I regret that as well. Guns are investments.
smith and wesson.. fairly priced. Quality gun.
cant say much for the hi-point handgun. I have the 9mm hi-point carbine. I call it my huricane gun. It runs on cheap-azz 9mm ammo, that can be found at most wally-worlds. And it was cheap, so if I have to pull it out in a huricane to protect my life and property I wont mind getting it banged up much. Also it can reach out to 50-100 yards if needed, as I have a red-dot scope on it too.
now if you want a reasonably priced, comfortable to conceal carry in .45 cal that holds 10 in the mag, then may I recommend the Taurus PT-145. I carry it all the time, shoot it whenever i can, eats most every bullet I fed it without a hitch, and if you ask me, it points much like a 1911 and is fairly accurate for the shorter barrel.

the good thing about the hi point .45 is if you run out of ammo and did not kill what you were trying to kill, you could club it to death cause that thing is like a brick.
