yeah GB, forget those classic vintage winchesters, remington, savage, brownings and the 100's, or is it thousands of others you have owned and GET A REAL GUN, like a mossberg, lol. not dissing M.B., it was all I owned my first 8 years or so and I made ALL my best shots and taken the most game with that mdl 500 and 2 bbl's, but a good shot/hunter will be able to kill with just about anything. a ford pinto will take you from point a to b also, but I'd rather ride in something else. the point we have been trying to make for years, and cause of major frustration, is for the same $ you bought those mb's for, new. (with some homework), you could find a used, in good condition classic that is a 10 x better gun.
and for anyone interested I will be holding a sensitivity training class next month.
.... :innocent
Now back to the subject at hand....The weaver rail that came mounted on my rifle does not work with my leupold mount. The slots that are cut into the rail are too far apart to place the scope mount properly. I am looking at two choices. 1) Go right to a DNZ 1 piece mount made for the Model Seven or 2) Get a Model Seven picatanny rail similar to the one sold by EGW's.
The DNZ mount will keep the scope lower to the barrel and I know alot of people here speak highly of them. Although it will sit higher, the picatanny rail will allow me to utilize the quick disconnect feature of the leupold mount so that I can move the scope back and forth between my Model Seven and AR.
I would go with the dnz's and remove the iron sights from the bbl of the mdl 7 while you are at it. if you wanted to move scopes around it wouldn't take too long. if you went with the quick release mounts, you would still have to re-zero the scope when moving it to a diff gun right? so I don't really see any time savings there. gonna send you a pm, hold on.

Sorry to disrupt your thread chief. I guess I need to start shooting Mossbergs and sell all my junk guns!
I might have some junk Leupold rings that will fit that rail, but they are cheap junk $80 rings. I might also have a one piece Leupold cheap junk $100 base too that might fit the model 7. Let me check.
One man's junk is another man's treasure!!!!!!
