The funny thing is how times have changed, my dad at 68 yrs old never changed a diaper until 5 years ago with my niece, my sisters daughter..... I do more taking care of my son in one week than my father did for us three kids the first five years we were alive....

Well this is where I am at. I am sitting on 2 trade requests but both are for Rem adl's, one in 308 and one in 7mm-08. No one has come forward with a bdl or cdl or a Win 70. Regardless of what I get, I was planning on replacing the stock with a laminated thumbhole model. If I can get a really good deal on the adl, how much does it typically cost to get the bolt/action cleaned up and trigger lightened by a gunsmith?

On a used newer 700 ADL i wouldn't give/allow anymore than 250.00 in trade value for it....

Thats about the value I was thinking. I really wanted that thumbhole stock and I can't see paying/trading the difference for the nice wood stock if I am going to swap it out anyway.

Good call, tell them they need to put a decent scope, some ammo or $$$$$ with it for your upper... Don't let those FL Gun Trader Knuckle Heads play you!

if you're gonna take it to a smith I'd do the whole magilla on it, bedding, trigger, action and recoil pad. each makes an improvement, all together is awesome, like an entirely diff gun. in for a dime in for a dollar. and the more you do the better the price. some may have packages.

Finally took the plunge, sold off an old sks and polymer lower and decided to get the Remington Model Seven in .308 off Gunbroker. Picked up an early 84 model in wood w/ 18.5" barrel that came with a picatanny rail scope mount that my leupold setup should bolt right to. It really amazes me how light that rifle really is and the best part... I had enough $ left over from the swap to get some ammo (if I can find it) and a nice sling for it.
