my cousins and my aunt and uncle were out fishing with my aunts grandma when someone on the boat hooked her through the lip everyone started flippin out and she hollard at them to shut up and hand her the pliers she cut the barb off and went back to fishing and shes 81

thats a good reason to go barbless. after having to do so in fly fishing catch and release areas. flatten the barb then file it flat, the hook sets easier and if you keep upward pressure on the line you won't lose the fish. and it does less damage to the fish if you plan on releasing it and also pulls right out if you catch yourself
