Realy trying to get some feed back on the ideal gauge and make/model of a shotgun I can use for both hog and turkey.
M-12 I liked the Remington 870 Wingmaster Magnum 12 gauge camo stock you had. If you change your mind and want to sell it arount thanksgiving, let me know.
That 870 is set-up for hogs and deer with slugs, sorry but gonna keep here or regret getting rid of it.... You'd have to buy another barrel to shoot shot out of with that one anyway, another $175.00...
For $100 the Mossberg bolt action I have would work great for shooting slugs (hog and deer) and bird shot... You can find a new clip magazine for about $30.00 for it on gun broker...
remmington 500 with 00 buck.. your good to go.
Crock did you mean mossberg 870? J.K., seriously you'll need a 12 guage with a 3"chamber minimum- 3 1/2 would probably be better. with the realistic distances of hogs and turkeys being for the most part under 50 yd's I'd go with a short barreled smoothbore no longer than 24" and use buckshot or rifled slugs with a modified choke and x-tra full choke for turkeys and forget about the rifled scoped barrel with sabot slugs at over 3$ each, unles you've got money to burn and very long shots. my scoped rifled benelli barrel I paid big bucks for is gathering cobwebs cuz I just can't afford to shoot it alot and ranges are so close I don't need it or the xtra weight. those 3 1/2" dixie tri-balls throw 3- 60+ caliber balls weighing 2.15 ounces at 1100 fps and had 2 touching at point of aim at 40 yds off hand and the 3rd about 6" away from the other 2. can't wait to test them on a hog or deer.they were designed to go after dangerous wounded african big game at close range.they are what I would want in my hands if face to face with anything big and/or dangerous on the planet.they should slap down very hard anything in Fla. hope to be able to let you know from first hand experience this season as thats what I'll probably be using most.
buckshot is gut shot, not for me
