18 years of hard hunting.Lot of bullets thru it,the action is getting a little sloppy, lots of scratches. I bet I killed 20 deer and at least 100 hogs with it.It's a lever action with a clip. The hammer is hanging on the bolt when I work the lever.
I like the 308 /243 if you know you'll be hunting Fields
But I am surprised that no one said 44mag carbine
It will kill everything in Florida it does have its Long range Limitations
I use TC so one day I have a 7-30 waters next 7tcu,next 357 max, 357 herrret 44mag, and on and on :cheers
I just love them for that reason
I only use 10 inch barrels so its a bit different than most hunt with
But the 44 in a Carbine or lever may fit your bill

My favorite caliber of all time was the 280 Remington. However, it became nearly impossible to find rounds for it so I traded for a 30-06. I have never had a deer take a single step after being hit with an 06 or 280 round from 10-350 yards. I would recommend the 06 because rounds are easy to find no matter where you travel. My wife shoots the 243 but I have had to track deer even with excellent shot placement and it wasn't a large blood trail (100 gr core-locked).
you've got some good cartritges listed, going on price and availability I'd go with the 30-06, or 308. the 308 can be had in a shorter/lighter/faster to get on target/ easier to carry/less recoil gun. the 06 has better stopping power, better range of bullet wts,and in a larger heavier gun, more steady to hold freehand. but I reload so thats a whole different thing. I realy like the 25-06, 7mmo8, and the winchester short mags esp 270wsm, but they may not be avail in most stores. in reality for fla bush hunting if shots are all going to be under 50 yds and you may have a charging hog, I think a large diameter heavy bullet (200 grs + ) traveling at modest velocities is better, 12 ga slug, 45-70, if you don't mind the recoil
i just picked up an h&r single shot 45-70 great gun but kicks like a mule
