really, IMHO the smaller calibers (.223 ,.243 ) will get the job done, BUT shot placement is very important. Really, how much do you want to spend on ammo? that is one of the deciding factors. the 30-06 has been killing stuff for a long time. also have alittle more selection on bullet weights in 30-06 and 308. .270 only has a few bullet weights to choose from. i hunt with 130 grn. hogs and deer. doesn't matter what you are shooting if you make a bad shot. the only round that has alot of forgiveness in shot placement is gonna be the .50 BMG. lol

In all actuallity,my .358 pretty much is the baddest MF in town. Nothing walks away from a hit,even a Texas heart shot.Ass shot,gut shot,head shot whatever,it's done.
