i myself hunt with a .270 and a 30-30. but the 30-30 is firing leverevolutions. stretches out the range.
308 all anyone needs anywhere in north america. or 30 06 08 or 06 if ya got one you dont need another. as why 270 are still anailable not tomany shoot them down here they are a super flat shooting round great for out west type of huntin long shots and all.

actually if you check some of the ballistics. 308, 30-06 and .270 are all very similiar. all 3 have been used by the military as sniper rifles.
here is the comparison. using Hornady 150 gr. SST. in all 3 calibers
30-06--- at muzzle 2910 fps / 2820 ft. lbs 300 yds. -7.40 inches.
308 at muzzle 2820 fps / 2648 ft lbs. 300 yds. -7.90 inches
270 at muzzle 2840 fps / 2686 ft. lbs. 300 yds. -7.50 inches
all are very similiar.
three options..
If your only gonna hunt florida a .243 is good. Low recoil and perfect for florida hunting. you can also use a 30/30. If you want the extra power with the knockdown power to hunt bigger game in like colorado or texas i would get an all purpost 30-06 thats what i have. It has a hell of a kick and hurts after 20 shots after the range. I am planning on getting a .243 for florida hunting and use the 30.06 for when i go out of state. This is just my opinion.
