I bet with all the hunting pressure at chazz those islands are loaded up with deer fleeing the mainland parts of the park. I've never been on the bay areas around chazz but if you want some company I'd be happy to go along, I have my hunting license and wma permit, does your fed permit allow a guest? pm me if interested.
I think I can bring upto five guests/hunters. These islands are loaded with stuff I have seen them. A local guide told me the hog on the on the islands taste horrible because they eat all the dead fish and crabs that wash up.
The only problem I have is the last time I went out there I used my pathfinder skiff, but now all I have up there is my bay boat and I don't think it will make it. But we can always try a jon boat.
I'm going to shoot some clay this weekend at hrnando sportsman club at chazz, I'm leaning towards sat at noon, haven't heard from anyone else yet, could go sun if thats more convenient. would like to meet some of you guys. as for the john boat I'm 315 lbs, how skinny is that water, and can you beach it and get on land or have to crawl thru mud? sounds like the hard part would be getting the game back in the boat. I believe you can shoot from the boat if the motors not running. im not afraid of getting muddy, just wanna know what to expect/what kinda gear to bring. thanks
No mud, you can run the boat right on the islands. Some of the islands are only 50' wide so getting game back to the boat is easy. The only problem is the water is a few inches deep in some spots and I don't know where. The water is so dark you cannot see the bottom even in a few inches. You can shoot from a boat as long as the engine is off. I will be going upto Chass next week and I will scout it all out.
