We plan our hunting around the full moon, and avoid that week at all costs. Over the past 10 years we managed to hunt the new moon cycle, and consistently pull 8 - 10 deer out in a week. 😎
I have really learned to hunt the full moon for deer, and actually look forward to it
we would always see deer from camp between 11-1 during the full moon periods.
Basically my concept is this:
Get in the stand as early as you can on a FM
Hunt till about 9Am
Go back to camp and have a good breakfast
Get back in the stand at 11 and hunt till 3Pm
Sit around and drink beer rest of day
I see a lot of deer moving in the first 20 minutes of twilight on a FM, as they are in transition from a feeding area to bed up. It seems like at noon the woods come alive as they are up feeding heavily. Afternoons seem to be very slow on a FM
That is the pattern I have noticed the last few years and try to hunt that way on the full
Moon phases do have some effect on fish and game but will it make for a bad or good trip NO!I have had good and bad times hunting or fishing full moons.I will say for sure everytime out you need to hunt or fish the pattern needed for that day!!
