Ok heres the question.. What is a good age to start a child at hunting.. Well i know its common sence to start them off with just coming along and i think small game would be a good start to have them come along with...
My son is 6 years old and im going small game tomorrow and he wants to come.. im not sure what to do. He never used any of my fire arms cause hes not ready and i have not given him the privelage of learning yet caus i feel he is too young to realize safety.. But just coming along.. what do you all thing..
small game? how old?
my boy was shooting at six, a 22 rifle first, gradually upgraded to a 410 by 8, now he shoots a 20 gauge Charles Daly pump as fast as he can load it, and probably the safest hunter in the woods.
well.. my son is 6.. and he wants to come along.. im just scared its on public land and its small game.. he will not have a firearm because hes not ready yet. or to put it better i havent taken the time due to money to take him to the range and teach him the hunter safety he needs to know to have my confidence.
pick up a $40.00 bb gun from Wally world, take him along and have him tote it, the hardest part at that age is the whole quiet issue. They don't understand why they need to be so quiet, until they see or hear something. The time me and my son have spent in the woods has been the best hunting times of my life. He's the best hunting partner ever. He's always up for it, never late, I don't have to pick him up 20 miles out of my way, and so far he's never been too hung over to hunt.
great.. i just guess ill take him along tomorrow.. im going with a friend and we are going to do small game on public land. thanks.
