bring your own large piece of cardboard to the range for sighting in so you start with no holes already in your target board. and you may want to spend a few extra bucks for some of those hi viz targets, that make it much easier to see where your shots are going, unless you have a spotting scope/good binocs or high powered scope.

That sounds like a lot of extra work. If you get the targets that have a sticky back and are black and when they hit, it makes a orange color over the hole. there is no reason why the gun would not get on target at 25 YDS. get the 12" sticky back round targets from Walmart or the Range.

a 3 foot by 2 foot piece of cardboard is no biggie, I use small targets 6" that way I know any holes on that board I made

Thanks for all of your help. I went to the range yesterday. I have the rifle sighted in. I tried two different bullets. Federal Vital Shock 150 gr. and Federal Fusion 165 gr. Wasn't ready to fork over the extra money just yet. Groups were much tighter with the Fusion 165 gr. Next weekend I am going to spend some extra money and try some premium bullets. Probably Federal Premiums and Hornady. Should I stick with the 165 gr. since I know it is shooting better or was that just the higher quality bullet? Also If I know the 165 gr is working should I try 180 gr.?

I have found out over the years that with large caliber guns and close shots, a little bigger bullet works better. When I shot an -06, I went to 165gr. It seems to slow it down just a bit and you get a little better expansion. This was actually much more true in my 7mm. The first 2 deer I killed with it the bullet penciled thru it so fast it never expanded. Went t a bigger bullet and had better results
