I usualy carry a small amount of orange tape to help trail a downed deer if needed, but pick it up on the way out. if i want to mark a trail so I can get in and out quietly in the dark, I use bright eyes. too much tape looks trashy, pretty soon every tree will have tape on it. what part of PUBLIC land don't these idiots get

I personally won't flag a spot and encourage whomever I am hunting with not to either. I use GPS and a few cat's eyes. I also memorize they way in and out of a spot so I can make most of the trek in almost total darkness. The light comes on when it gets real thick...

My dad flagged the piss out of a spot during archery and didn't set any stands. Some guys snaked it and busted a buck out of it...

why dont we organize a ribbon cutting party after the season is over? perhaps get in some scouting in the summer months? removing old flags while marking possible sites in our GPS's?

What about tree stands that are left up after hunting season? If memory serves, all tree stands have to come out of the woods when the season closes? And as for fixed wooden stands, I seem to remember a rule that says no hammering or permanant affixing of items to trees. this would seem clear to me that a wooden platform nailed to a tree would be "Permanent"?

Why doesnt the FWC do anything about these "OLD" tree stands.

granted I am not one wanting to piss of johnny red-neck but what can we do? besides call the Law enforcement agency and have them do there jobs????

if you think fwc actually walks in the woods your mistaken. if they cant see it from their truck it stays there.. Unless someone is complaining about it and gives him a location of where it is.

Shoot i dont condone this and it it illegal but generally speaking you can put a feeder on a wma and it its in a good spot no one will know. But thats highly illegal. Just trying to give you an idea of how some of those stands go un seen and stay up there for years.

Oh i understand that. they are like code enforcement officers, unless they can see the violation from their vehicle, or unless they get a complaint from a neighboor they wont bother looking into it.

So what I am suggesting is that as hunters, or as someone once coined the phrase, "Stewards of the Land" we should be proactive in protecting the areas we hunt so they will be there for us for years to come. IF that means cleaning up the joint every now and then, or perhaps in the off-seasons, then lets do something about it.

Now I am not talking about removing someones private property like a treestand padlocked to a tree in the middle of the summer. but we can be the Noisy neighboor and call the FWC and get them out of their trucks and into the woods.
...

or I am stupid, out of my mind, and should just shut my mouth and let sleeping dogs lay. (but i am not that guy :tung )
