All this orange tape has been the hardest thing for me to get used to in florida. I have never seen anything like it before. I feel like I am intruding everywhere I go and like I will walk up on someone and or mess up their hunt. I have seen it go on for hundreds of yards and go off in so meny different directions there is no way to figure out when or if the place was being hunted at that time. It is like they are some kind of claim markers and I don't think that is right on public land. There are enough restritions without feeling like you can't go anywhere on the public land because everybody but you has a claim to it. I even see it in the swamps. Any place that even looks remotely worth hunting is covered with it. :censored
You can tell, the majority of the time all the ribbon is all old and faded. Most of the time half of it isnt even worth following because it will just end and you won't know it. If the ribbon looks discolored at all, I rip that :censored down and put it in my pocket and throw it away. And also if the piece of ribbon has a tail that is about 3 feet long, im rippin it down too.
a long time ago when i hunted farmton wma now Miami Tract Hunt Club we had 10 camp climbers we put out in the same tree every year with ribbon trails to them no one ever bothered them of course our ribbons didn't start until about 150 yards in so you couldn't see them and we only hunted the swamp knee deep was a easy walk but some were hellacious walks like waist deep or more i miss it we were dog hunters no tracking collars if they couldn't find there way to camp they would be early tomorrow we always killed at least 10 - 15 bucks a year now i hunt tiger bay WOW at all the ribbons and i havent even seen 15 DEER all season ive seen 9 deer 5 were when i was driving in shot 1 doe missed another saw 2 bucks 1 was out of range 1 was in range opening of bow but walking straight away and i wanted my gf to shoot it so i didnt even grab my bow it never turned and i wouldn't let her shoot it walking straight away with a 45# bow it didnt turn until 30 yards so i drew and it saw me and gone. Does this place always suck for seeing deer ? :censored
I usually put them up just to let someone know that I will be in the area. I get upset pretty easily when someone walks up on me when I am calling in a bird.
Had A guy flag my area( I have hunted the same tree for 7 years) I hunted first archery, muzz, and last gun all hunts every day never saw the guy. Got 7 hogs & 1 doe in that time he shows up the last weekend at check station raising hell and bitching that he marked it during archery. We had to call the law he was so pissed he was tomato red in the face until they got handcuffs out 😆 hes not the first one who thought they own it because of there ribbon.
