If the buck to doe ratio is real low, you may not find any scrapes. In some areas you may have to look long and hard for scrapes, because a lot of them may be small and made by younger bucks and not tended after they are made. As for rubs, they could be anywhere. Yes, bucks tend to stick to their home areas for the first couple days of the rut, so rubs made at the end of the velvet stage are as good sign posts. But, after the first couple days, that buck could be a mile or more away chasing hot does.
The rut is late there this year, from what I am hearing. When I used to hunt it, it was always right about mid Nov-now
I do not know where you guys are hunting, but there a scrapes and rubs everywhere I have been in Citrus.
There are just so many acorns and the deer could be anywhere in there.
