Antlers just ain't that big a deal like they are to some of you guys. I'm happy with the deer I kill every year big or small. The younger ones are much tastier, nothing nastier than a big rutting buck.
you always hear "you can't eat horns" but I never heard anybody complaining about getting a big racked buck and we see lots of braggin pics of them, hence the big buck contest. if you want better meat, shoot a doe. increasing doe harvest wil help the bucks grow, the herd overall plus make it easier for law abiders, newbies and kids to get their first

Nice thought but we know that wont happen cant happen and any one who believe that doesn't know Florida hunting laws.
Trust me i fill most of my doe tags i can get but a 5 year old doe is just as bad as an 5 year old buck.
Lord, Ted and Skunk, ya'll make it sound like anything but a year old deer is trash and not fit for eating. I've eaten fawns and I've eaten old rutting bucks and quite honestly I wouldn't turn away a plate of either.
all the places I've hunted or just watched the buck to doe ratio was way heavy in favor of does. one day in the caskill mtn's, last day of season I went up alone to take down my stands, had already filled the 1 doe tag I was lucky to have gotten and all of a sudden at least 30 does come running right under my stand without a buck in sight. so many I couldn't count them and figured a buck had to be following all these does, when a couple of joggers and their dog come by and spook everything. no cell phones with or without cameras back then.
