how many greenswamp hunters here are in favor of fwc implememting a fork horn rule in the swamp?? fwc keeps saying that the 471 hunters dont want any restrictions an call the swamp a meat hole..well theres lots more hunters in the swamp than the 471 guys an everyone ive talked to is in favor of antler restrictions there..look at the harvest every single year,,..half to 3/4 of all the bucks taken are spike(the babys)..the genes are there to grow big buck with an influx of blood coming from gfreenswamp west and hamptons..if we let these babys grow up,everyone will have a chance to shoot quality bucks in the swamp..a petition is being drawn up an gona be circulated thru a few guys to get signatures, phone numbers etc...we are gona by pass lakeland fwc and go to the legislature, governor and tallahassee fwc...its time for some changes for the good..2 other things, fwc burns in feb, march an april in the swamp when the turkeys are nesting destroyn hunderds of nests an during sept an oct when the fawns are being born an killing hundreds..this has got to be stop...if u factor that in along with the coyotes, aint many babys ever geting a chance...we have got to ban together an get someting done...
If you are gonna go with a fork horn rule, you may as well go to a 3-on-one-side rule. A fork horn rule does not accomplish much. A 3 point or a 4 point is still usually a 1.5, or a 2.5 yo deer at most. If the idea is to let the younger deer live and grow to the next season, then go three on one side
(By the way, I am in favor of state wide antler restrictions and an increased doe harvest)
I killed a 120lb mature cow horn spike in Richloam last year. I don't think antler restrictions are very fair to children and first time hunters.
I'm all for antler restrictions.
I'm also all for 16yr old and under getting a brown and down free pass.
But just because you are a "new hunter" shouldn't mean squat in my opinion....
Let me put one of these :cheers thingies just to make it clear that I'm not trying to be a jerk.
