Essential Knives for Butchering

So after popping that hog my cousin and I had to butcher it out back at my folks' house. We had a few pos filet knives and a small bone saw. It pretty much sucked, but we did a good job with the cruddy tools we had available. What knives or other tools do you guys think are essentials for cleaning and butchering your own game?

as long as its sharp and you have a saw it makes life easier. one of my buddies uses a scalpel blade, that works pretty good, you just have to be careful.

I think the skinning knife is the thing we needed most. We weren't able to make the tight cuts since we were using long filet knifes. We thought about a sawsall, but worried about it tearing up stuff. Good to know in the future. Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming.

these and practice. there are different types of skinning knives and it takes practice to be efficient and also to know what you are comfortable with. many people have different choices and opinions on what they like to skin with.
