Less is usually best, but always let the turkey tell you what to do. I have killed birds with only making one soft tree yelp and I have worn out mouth calls just to squeeze the trigger.

I killed one 5 years ago w/o ever taking a call out of my vest. I was walking an old grown up logging road at gray light listening for one to gobble. My vest has a pouch on the side for a box call. I pulled my gun off my shoulder to prop it up against a tree so I could take a leak. When I did, I bumped the box call with my elbow and it made a loud nasty "cluck-squawk" sound. I cringed at the sound, but a gobbler fired off at 60 yards on the roost. He flew down, and strutted right into a load of #5's. Quickest hunt of my life

Sometimes you get a turkey with a death wish. I love when that happens.

Yeah, that one and the one I killed last year were two of the dumbest birds I have ever seen. Especially the one I killed last year. That was the dumbest mature bird I have ever witnessed. My report is on here somewhere

Like Carlos smelling something frying! He's on the way and you can't stop him!
