Managed to get to camp and run my dogs this weekend. I was pretty much by myself,I had a couple of old friends to hunt with but just my dogs. My camp was empty, pretty wierd.Jumped early Sat morning but never seen what they ran, then tried the rest of the day without much luck. Seen a good herd of hogs in the road Sat eve around 6 and took a long shot with no scope only to miss. Sunday morning I got into them early,my buddy found some fresh sign and he walked his two curs in and I took a few hounds. After 20 minutes I heard Echo and Fatboy light up,they bayed for a minute then the race was on. They went straight out of hearing so I heaed back to the ruck to try and catch up with them. By the time I got around the block I picked up Bullet in the road and Echo was a few minutes behind him. Dogs are a bit out of shape so I don't expect a lot from them yet. I heard Fatboy still trailing and after a few minutes I realized he was heading north on another hog. I went up the road a 1/4 mile and got where I could hear him good. When he was close enough I sent Jan my black and tan, and lighter to him. Didn't take but a minute and Jan started squaling then the pig started squealing.

I had my boy Clay with me and we both went in,I got the dogs off the hog and Clay stuck the pig. Not a real big one but Iwas very pleased with my dogs and my son. That was a very tough 200 yards to get to the caught hog but he made it and got the job done. After butchering the hog with with the on the side of the road this 3' cotton mouth come across the road,my buddy took his head clean off with his .357 mag. What an awesome shot, almost 40 yards. That started the snake killing competition, Later that day I went down a dim road with a little cut ditch next to it,there was this big ass moccasain stretched out,so I backed up to whack it. Looked down, and there was another one next to it,I aimed the .243 and took a shot. Snakes went flopping everywhere.Onewas missing half his head, and the other had half his body about 10'feet away.
Monday morning we went back to the same spot and sent the dogs in and after a few minutes they jumped and ran the hide off of one for a couple hrs. This one took the dogs off the property fpr an hr,they finally quit it and come back. Had a great weekend with my boy, gonna let the dogs rest this weekend and do some bow hunting till Richloam opens up in two weeks. I do have a pic of the hog but I can't find my wire to plug my camera into the puter.

Good job Jeff. I went home the back~way yesterday and they are butchering your lease on the east side. You can see for miles. Did they make a rule for still hunters to mark their spots/ I saw a few PVC pipes like we use in our lease. I did not see the first truck out there till I got South of Hines...weird

Not that I've heard, the porkers are thick in there now. I need to get my feeder filled up and keep them in there. Nobody was hunting the wma there by me either that I could tell. I will prolly go back up Thanksgiving unless Richloam is producing.
