even when I had a lot more guns to choose from the rem mdl 7 in 7mm08 is the 1 I just about always used, very small light accurate with plenty of stopping power (with the right loads) and can be had in a youth stock. the ruger or a- bolts aren't bad either. a 308 wouldn't be too differen't
30-30 lever
30-30 lever is a great rifle IMO. Its light and with the Leverloution ammo, VERY accurate for long distances. I have a .270 as well and while I LOVE that rifle, my 30-30 is my favorite for low recoil.
I think a carbine would fit her good.
the ultra light bolt action carbines are actualy shorter and lighter than most levers, except maybe the trapper styles. levers just carry and feel better in the hands even though they may weigh more. unscoped I'd go with a lever, but with the exception of the browning blr I'd have to definately give accuracy and avail of more powerfull, further shooting rounds to the bolts. both have their place and I always bring an unscoped rifle or shotgun anywhere I bring a scoped one.
