My first boar was weighted 184 lb. It was a one healthy looking boar and it was the only hog that came out of the bushes so I was like "Why not?" so I shot him with my .30-06 with 150gr Winchester.

As soon as I shot him, I waited till he finally had his last breath, then I took my knife out and cut his nut sack off ( someone told me to do this to minimize nasty smell or something like that so I did it)

After cleaning procedure was done, I seasoned them up and put them in the cooler with ice for a night.

Next morning, I called couple of my buddies over to my house, we grilled some of those meats and they were delicious.

I really don't know when other people say "Nasty, smelly, and chewy meat boars" but based on what I experienced so far, I never had any problem eating boar.

I mean they may smell and nasty when they become way too old..?

Truthfully there is something to soaking hog meat in ice& water- just a type of brineing. It can make a bad one good. My friends- group of hunters are convinced after they tried it.
