yes on deer. but boar hog no way. i never understood why any one would kill one to eat.shoot for mount ok.to eat no way.first thing so tuff you couldnt eat. second stink so bad trying to cook. wouldnt eat unless i guess thats all you could get...only thing we did we boars trap them and turn loose...then kill later.but thats just from a dumb old crackers......
Have to disagree with you, Jim... I have killed many many many hogs in my life and only had 1 that was too gamey to eat, and 1 that was too tough to eat(they both turned to sausage)
I read these reports all over forums all the time about not eating boar hogs. Every time I read one, I write my disagreement to the OP. Never understand it why people don't take some time to properly prep the meat.
I shot 2 this year back to back. Both pushing 175 pounds and ball sacks the size of softballs. I can cook you a piece of it right now and you would swear to me its store bought pork...

I got to go with Allen on this one. John has given me boar meat from a couple of different hog and have not had any problems. So if you want some of them boer's taken off you land Jim just let me and John know. :toast
Weather has nothing to do with it at all. I've shot hogs and seen them at all hours of daylight and at night during ant weather condition.Main thing is the food source. Right now theres not for them to eat. Acorns are all gone and so is most edible vegitation.Also Most peoples luck ain't all that good on public property this late in the season. What is left round is pretty nocturnal now and very man shy.Hunting on my club this weekend we got 3 hogs,one of them was just walking into a road.Depends a lot on where your hunting. I also disagree with you Jim, I've ate many boar hogs although I prefer cut hogs and gilts.young boars are fine and I've ate deer that were worse than any boar hog.
well i guess its a good a thing i dont have to shoot and kill boars.because i am not eatting them. guess thats whats good about hunting your own land. shoot what you want when you want.life goes on.
