You're right Gunboy.
Problem is, that I'm only here on vacation once or twice a year. I don't have a pickup truck. I'm borrowing my parents' S-class when I'm here. I'm not sure how many dead animals I can fit in the back seat :eek
If you are driving an S Class I'd go to Home Depot and rent a pick-up truck for the day, Like $50 plus gas, and buy a 150-180 qt cooler and leave the cooler with your parents. I used to have a 04 CLK 500 Convertible and no wild game would go any where near it.
if I can find a place to rent a pickup at a reasonable price and close to where they live I'm gonna rent one. But otherwise I think I'll be okay as long as the quartered hog is in a closed cooler and not just scattered across the backseat in which case I will be :death LOL
now I don't hunt anywhere near as often, far away, or deep in the woods as most of you guys, have a 4x4 pick up but rarely use it. I fill a gallon jar with water and freeze it and leave that in the cooler. if I happen to score (unlikely) and the animal is skinned and quartered and put in the cooler I have time to get to a store and buy the ice then, but again I'm only a few miles tops from the store. as for buying a cooler from sports authority I think I'd look at walmart first for one. I'm not impressed with anything from sports authority or their prices.
i picked up a Coleman Xtreme 120qt cooler from Walmart on sale for $52 a couple months ago. It works great and will hold ice for almost a week if not opened too much. It held my quartered hog as well as 1/2 of a smaller hog plus ice.
