Up there the water table is fairly high. you should hit water from 30-50'. You can drill it yourself, but sometimes busting thru the limerock is a bit tough.

Yeah, my buddies tried to drill it themselves, and they got 12 ft before limestone binded them up.

do you have electric there for the pump? we have a 4" well down app 100' and it's not quality drinking water without further purifying/softening, but good enough to water the lawn and believe it ran 3500$ and that's close to a paved rd. hopefully you could go with a smaller diam well and pump ( less output but enough to get by) maybe get a hook up from a forum member or friend of one. good luck

I have a 4" well for my drinking water about 100'. If you go with a smaller diam well I dont think you can use a submersible pump.
