not in this state. no reason is needed to fire anybody, sux but that's the way it is. only time you MIGHT have recourse is if you can prove discrimination or it is some kind of retaliation for "whistle-blowing" and their 3,000$/hour lawyers will chew up and spit out your 300$ one. my wife was just fired after 8 years of excellent service, always good evaluations and just given a big bonus for doing such a good job. they replaced her with 2 part time per Diem's for almost 1/2 what she made, never have to give them a raise or pay for benefits. if you are at the top of your pay grade and get benefits there's a bulls eye on your back. they are in the process of cleaning house in this HCA sharthole hospital and replacing experienced hardworking loyal workers with no experienced ones willing to work for less and no benefits or raises.
Thats the very reason I am self employed today. Company I was begged to come work for layed me off after three years and hired two kids to replace me that couldn't even shave yet. I had more licenses and knowledge(and common sense) than the owner did
That is the truth they would rather let exspireaced people walk and hire some inexspirence peopl for half of what you make.
the more you know the less they need you. Happened to me and it is slap in the face for sure. This is new buisness model of the future. Cut my pay 35% rite before they were to give me my yearly bonus and told us theres the door if we did not like it. No bonus redused pay rite thanks giving time and then closed the doors 6 months later. 34 years of service and no retirement and have a nice day........sorry about the spelling I get straite Ds in english. It's a sad state but true in every business. I see it all the time with engineering firms we team with on projects. Our firm isn't nearly as bad in that regard but it happens here also. I hope I'm living conservatively enough so I can smile when they send me my walking papers and replace me with two entry level dudes. Or I'm going to marry a well-off woman next time around, I haven't made up my mind yet lol
