So we all wake up this morning and my boy is sick. Coughing every breath. Wife has luxury of working from home if need be. I had clients this morning I could not reschedule, so she stays home with him and works from house. About 11 I was about to call her to tell her I was done, and on way back, so she could go in to office if she needed to.... when she calls me freaking out telling me her office complex is in lock down mode(This is a very large office complex with many buildings and a huge parking garage several stories high)
I guess after 9-11, all of us are jumpy as hell. And especially with the national IT companies that are in her complex, I always worry that it is a target
Her co workers are IM'ing her and shes getting corporate alerts that a shotgun yielding male was seen in parking garage. Whole complex locked down, and about to lock down the nearby areas.....(roads/schools/etc)
TPD is called in, choppers are hovering, SWAT team is on site, K9 all over place, the whole 9 yards..
To make a long story short, the report was for a 50-60 y.o. white male, green shirt, balding/gray hair carrying shotgun thru parking garage. This poor dude on my wifes floor(not same dept but in same area) was like.....umhhhh...that was me.
Apparently he made a gun deal with someone to purchase shotgun, and they made the transaction in the parking garage. Neither were smart enough to bring a gun case or park next to each other, so they made the deal and then purchaser walked with it openly to his car. Pepole saw him walking with it, freaked out and called 9-1-1.
I don't know the outcome any further than that. I guess the moral of the story...pick a better place to make your gun deals
:rolleyes
Hope it was worth it cause he won't be working there much longer... Wonder if they'll go after him for all the man power and cost needed to send those teams out there...
Ignorance isn't stupidity but if left unchecked can get there real fast.
Scary thing for a bunch of women at an office. Poor guy was just getting a new gun. LOL. With todays society maybe he should have tried to conceal it a little but at the same time he wasn't breaking any laws that I know of and damn sure shouldn't have to pay for anything. And if he was to get fired then the first call should be to a big time attorney.
not in this state. no reason is needed to fire anybody, sux but that's the way it is. only time you MIGHT have recourse is if you can prove discrimination or it is some kind of retaliation for "whistle-blowing" and their 3,000$/hour lawyers will chew up and spit out your 300$ one. my wife was just fired after 8 years of excellent service, always good evaluations and just given a big bonus for doing such a good job. they replaced her with 2 part time per Diem's for almost 1/2 what she made, never have to give them a raise or pay for benefits. if you are at the top of your pay grade and get benefits there's a bulls eye on your back. they are in the process of cleaning house in this HCA sharthole hospital and replacing experienced hardworking loyal workers with no experienced ones willing to work for less and no benefits or raises.
