Does anyone know how to disinfect a private well?

My house im buying has a well and i just fixed the pvc piped and when the electric is turned on i want to disinfect the well. Then obviously im going to get a water test.

So can anyone explain detailed how to disinfect my well??

Get a water sample and have it tested first, you may not have to disinfect. The water sample test will let you know if it is contaminated or not and what if any filters you will need to remove tannens or anything else.

Yep. Get it tested. The county should have some place you can take it and get it tested. We picked up test kits from the County Health clinic but Hillsborough may be different.

Here's some links. I've never had to do it but sounds straightforward enough.

I would have a water test done, then have a reputable well company do the cleaning, if needed. My old neighbor tried to do it himself years back and about destroyed his pump and everything to go along with it
