stopped in at Gander Mtn. for some corn-9.99 for 40 lbs.) and thought I would pick up a box or .357 for the ole' python. choke, light headed, short of breath. 59.00 for a box a 50. wtf happened??? has it been that long since I bought ammo?? anyways I bought a 1/2 box of Wolf. never shot it before but gonna try it. and I always buy 145 grain. that's a premium also. settled for 125 grain. gonna have to resight now. WOW!!! :censored
I don't purchase much ammo except rimfire and shotgun shells as I reload pretty much everything else.
I'm in the process of loading "hot" 357mag ammo now and should finish tonight. Loading 500 rounds of 158gr Hornady XTP @ 1,375 fps using H110 powder, it's costing me total of $135 in components. Two weeks ago I loaded 2,000 round of 45ACP using 200gr SWC cast bullets I casted 10+ years ago @ 875 fps using HP38 powder and it cost me total of $210. On per round basis it's a big savings but in reality you don't save any money by reloading as you'll just shoot a lot more.
All ammo has been going up in price, but you can find better prices on ammo and guns than Gander offers.
Ammo prices have shot back up in the last 6 months. The man at 1600 Pennsylvania is the best ammo/gun salesman this country has ever seen
Price of reloading components have levelled off but I expect they will start to climb up too.
Back in May my friends and I ordered enough powders and primers to keep us happy for next 2-3 years.
Only thing I need more is cast bullets for 38 special and 9mm.
