It will be going to increased fuel costs, raises for agents, things like that. Less people are buying licenses now so those of us who do still buy them have to pick up the slack for an already over budgeted, over spending, gov't financed agency. HUnting and fishing licenses are nothing but a tax. They know we have to buy them ,so they tax them.

They could do several things with new permits/tags/stamps to generate more money without increasing overhead, like a $30 Goliath grouper stamp, with a slot limit set to protect the breeders. Enforcement wouldn't take any more effort than what they do now to make sure people don't keep them.

Open a bear season with a draw for certain areas that have huntable populations. Do it like they do the gator hunts.

Open hog season year round on WMAs with a big hog population, and sell a separate hog stamp to allow folks to kill them all year.

Just those three would generate significant revenue and provide food and fun for thousands of sportsmen.

They could do all kinds of things, they're already charging more for stamps and licenses the last few years. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

EXACTLY! I didn't get to vote on these increased fees, and I know that my state representative wasn't aware of them either. So, how the hell can they pass that w/o a vote? And, yes, where is the rest of the 90% going? The way I look at it, if there are less of us buying licenses and permits, then there's no need for additional DNR staff. It's general math. Less Hunters = Less Revenue = Less Need for Staff.

I like the idea of charging non-residents higher fees like our neighbor states. I own 125 acres in PA, and I still have to buy a non-res hunting license when I go up (which is why I haven't been up in a few years). AL used to charge like $85 for a 3 day non-resident license, and GA is like over $300. Why can't we do the same here?

I use hunting as a way to supplement my grocery bill. So, in additional to all the cost increases at the grocery stores, now it's gonna cost me more to hunt.
