in 12 gauge a 1 0z slug (approximation) is gonna kick no matter what you use. it may in fact have reduced recoil over another brand to some degree, but are you really gonna be able to tell a major difference? to me not anything substantial, they all hurt,LOL. especially when fired off a bench. there's nothing unmanly about using a "sissy pad" when sighting slugs from a bench imo.

you didn't say whether you had a smoothbore or rifled bbl. the sluggers I used had rifling on the slugs themselves and were meant for use in smoothbores app 1 oz and 60+ caliber app 1/3 the price of hornady sst's but nowhere near the range or accuracy . the sst's I had were for rifled bbls and are app 300 gr 45-50 caliber in a sabot, but should be good close to 200 yds but app 3$ each. I guess it depends on how far you plan on shooting and/or can afford. if your talkin hogs at 20-40 yds I'd opt for the sluggers they will hit harder at close range and save you some money. I'm using dixie tri-balls 3 60 cal balls at 2oz's and good to 40 yds easy, priced less than the sst's and more than the sluggers, used in a smoothbore.
