I suppose I could manage to get by with 2 rugers 1- 22/250, and 25-06, 270,280 something like that would work OK, maybe another 270wsm that laid the smackdown for sure.
Another Encore guy here. The Ruger is classy looking but for interchangeability, I like the Encore Pro Hunter with the thumbhole stock. Very comfy.
The hammer does make a slight click when cocking. I have, however, killed two turkeys with the 20ga Encore turkey barrel - both 20yds or less. I've learned that you can pull the hammer back and pull slightly on the trigger and it will eliminate the "click" of cocking if the animal is THAT close. The 20ga was a borrowed barrel but I will be adding that to my arsenal for myself (more for my son when he's old enough to turkey hunt).
Another thing with the Encore is that you're not stuck with only T/C for barrels. My 25-06 is a custom 26.25" Match Grade Machine barrel for it. Highly accurate with my hand loads.
.25-06 MGM barrel
.50 black powder T/C pro hunter barrel
Soon to add:
20ga turkey barrel
.223 or .243 barrel for my son
I'd even consider the 12ga turkey barrel and the 12 ga blackpowder barrel for primitive weapons only areas in the spring time
Another new encore fan here I got one last year, Compared to my Browning abolt 7mm mag. It is smaller lighter more compact with a heavier barrel, not as much of a long range gun as browning a lot easier to carry and more compfortable to shoot out of tree stand. killed two last year one at about 120 yards hit right were I wanted it to. I am very happy. and I am glad I can have a new cal. for around 300 bucks.
mine.
