Nice .25-06, gotcha a deal on that one, didn't ya....

I'd go with a Ruger #1, but IMHO they are in two different classes. Price diference in the two can range from a $300-$1500 difference. I have shot both and they both shoot well. I personally like the feeling and the way the Ruger #1 shoots, but for another $300-$1500 more it had better feel and shoot better IMHO...

The Encore is a top notch versatile rifle, and I still want one, but there is something very classy and elegant about the Ruger #1.

The ruger is a beautiful gun....no doubt....dont have that one but have MKII 77 and its nice...have lots of guns including a Belgian made Browning BLR in .308...but the gun I take to the woods when its time to kill a deer is always the Encore in 30.06....awesome gun.....compact, light, and highly accurate...and never had a deer hear me cock it.....

There's a few things about a T/C Encore you have a selection of barrels you can hunt from smoke pole to 375 H&R , and you can make a pistol out of it, You can't do that with a Ruger, Now i'm not knocking Ruger it is a fine gun but you buy a 7mm and thats all you got
