not argumentative at all, I saw that also, people do it all the time so was just reporting what they said. The company wants to sell you another barrel, that is why they say not to do it. So go with what you want to do...I would change to a more open tube.

Could be the company is thinking about their customer's safety while also trying to avoid lawsuits for not telling people they shouldn't use potentially damaging ammo in certain configurations.

i also have a 835, have used 00 buck in it. using a modified choke. Have also used it for pheasant hunting with good success. the far off birds are a little tricky but with some high brass no.6, it can be done. I have not and wouldn't not take the chance of shooting slugs with the over bored barrel.

i have 835 also but with a 26 in barrel. gun is great but i will not chance shooting slugs thru it ... found myself a truck gun in good shape, that is an old mossberg 500, came with a slug barrel and select choke barrel. cost me 150. this is my deer/hog gun, and my 835 i use for turkey, other birds and some small game. there are some tri ball buckshot loads that are real nasty out of the 835, but i am not a fan of buckshot.

Thanks guys for all the help. I think im gonna buy a modified choke for it for use with buckshot while stalking hogs. ill stay with the extra full choke for turkey. and maybe use like #7 1/2 birdshot for small game (squirrel) through the modified choke. im not going to take any chances shooting slugs through it just to be safe.
thanks for the help
