my ffl is my gunsmith who only charges $25.00.
Gun stores can charge as much as they want. I have seen flat rates of $50, $75, and some charge a percentage of the cost of the fireamr plus a flat fee.
It's best to call around to find a low price.

Frank,
I don't remember exactly where you live, but I bought guns from a guy up in Baker back when I was living in Ft Walton. I believe this was the place:

JAYS GUNS SHOOTING RANGE III 850-537-9610
1872 FOUR WHEEL DR
BAKER, FL 32531

I got a kick out of his street's name! Of course, it's been about 14 years since I bought anything from him, so no telling how it is now, but back then he was friendly, informative, and had the best prices around.

Thanks, I think things have changed, at least their prices, but always an alternative(Jay's). Frank (Destin)

to get the best deal I'd avoid dealers and gun show booths ( but check out guys carrying guns for sale on their person ) and buy private thru newspaper adds, gun range for sale boards. it will take longer but be patient and eventualy you'll get something you like. if you get a bad feeling about the deal or are not completely happy, or they are not willing to come down on what you feel is too high a price walk away from it. you can check gun sites like gunbroker.com but don't look at asking price, look at the prices they actualy sold for. in an auto I'd be completely confident buying a used sig or glock but give everything else a good going over and don't be afraid to ask if a gunsmith can look it over for you before purchase. be patient and do your homework and you will find a great deal eventualy. if you need that instant gratification go to a store and get the warranty and pay an extra $300 or so
