My first shotgun was a single shot 20ga Ithaca lever-action break. Killed lots of rabbits, doves, and quail with it out in AZ and TX. Still have it. The Christmas after I turned 16 (1980) Dad gave me my 12ga 870 Wingmaster. Love the gun, but it's spent most of its life zipped up in a gun case. Seems like once we moved back to Florida, the bird hunting was scarce, and never had to use a shotgun for deer, always used a 30-30 or .243. I have no opinion on the Mossys, wouldn't mind owning 1 or 12. Now I have a Belgian Browning A5 Lite 12 that I still haven't shot, but if I do hunt deer with a shotty, that'll be the one I use. The 870 is my bird gun, just have to find a place to use it.
I have had issued to me Savage, Remington, and Mossberg. Low bid situation. They all functioned well. This is a true story. At the range qualifying with our shotguns. It was a shoot 'till empty and reload. We carried the extras in our pockets. After examining the targets we noticed something strange about one of the targets. It had multi-colored holes and little bits attached to target. when one of the officers was reloading, he shoved a pkg. of lifesavers into the gun. It cycled great but obviously did not go off. Not knowing he jacked another round in and fired. Not only did the target get load of buckshot but it also died of a sugar overdose from the lifesavers. Love those Savage shotguns. Shoot anything. No problemos with mossy or rems either.
I heard that the wintergreen Lifesavers throw a better pattern than the standard multi-flavor pack!
sounds like the time my wife tried to put her lipstick in my o/u at the trap range. range officer had a good laugh.
Here's an article for you Mossberg boys...
