I think this debate is good, and proves a point. The laws are written vaguely and us the gun owners don't fully understand them completely. We are all guilty of it. Our interpretations probably won't be the same as those of a cop or a court of law. Everyone that caries a gun needs to have a lawyer on speed dial.

I agree! Great debate. Just carry concealed and don't worry about it, inside or out of your vehicle.

Alot of people have become rich after sueing municipalities and LE organizations for wrongful arrest, harassment, injury, and death! Lawyers love these types of suites, big $$$$$! Lake County is getting ready to go broke after the settlement or if it goes to court for wrongful death when deputies shot the wrong guy last week when he answered his door, with his gun, and shot him but hadn't identified themselves as the "POLICE" when they arrived at his door knocking!

that lake county thing is a royal cf.
F.S. 790.25 covers all the questions in the debate. however interpretation of law is subjective to whomever is reading it. Boswink v state covers the carrying of long guns, i will try to find more info on handguns. you can carry a loaded chambered gun in your glove box without a ccp i believe.

(5) POSSESSION IN PRIVATE CONVEYANCE.—Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is not a violation of s. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a legal firearm other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a lawful use. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to authorize the carrying of a concealed firearm or other weapon on the person. This subsection shall be liberally construed in favor of the lawful use, ownership, and possession of firearms and other weapons, including lawful self-defense as provided in s. 776.012.

placing the weapon as pictured in the beginning of this thread would be unlawful in Florida.....

(17) “Securely encased” means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access.
