Ok get pulled over by a cop with it in a visible case on the console visible to the cop from standing outside of the car. I do under stand how the car is an extension but thats to PROTECT your car or you while you are in it. Someone jumps in your car unwanted then put the gun in his face.

he doesnt have to get in your car if some ahole starts trying to assualt you thru your window you can pop him. there are a lot of situations that have not made it into the courts yet. reading and knowing the laws in your state is of utmost importance. Not saying i know them all, or that my interpretation would hold up in court, i am no lawyer or judge.

What's the cop gonna say? Is that your gun? Answer would be: Yes that's my gun and this is also my vehicle sir! What am I being stopped for today?....................

Know your rights....

If someone approaches your car with a baseball bat and starts beating the car to death with the bat and you and your family are inside, can you shoot? The answer is yes, if your life is being threatened! I think someone trying to break the windows out of your vehicle with a baseball bat while you are inside is enough of a threat to shoot the MFer! I'd shoot!

I know for a fact that rifles and shotguns have to be cased, I got pulled over by fwc ridin through the woods and had a rifle under the back seat of my truck. (always sits there) and he wrote me a warning for uncased firearm. Ill look for the warning when I get home.

True.. But the cop can say,... "Please step out of the vehicle, Your firearm is in plain sight thats not legal".. WELL I DONT REALLY KNOW WHATS THE REAL ANSWER TO THIS. But the wrong cop can make a big deal about it and waste alot of your money and time.

I still feel keep it out of sight in your car. at least on the side of the seat so you can reach it but noone can see it just looking in the window.

Honestly it does not actually say the words "out of sight" but it kinda means that tho..

How to legally store a firearm in a vehicle in Florida
In Florida it is legal to have a firearm or weapon in a vehicle if it is "securely encased", and you are at least 18 years of age. "Securely encased" means the firearm or weapon is in a CLOSED console, closed glove compartment, closed box, or other closed container which requires the container be opened in order to gain access to the firearm or weapon. This definition also includes a holster or gun rug that is snapped, zippered, or velcro'd closed. However, I highly recommend that if kept in a holster -- that the holster not be placed in a visible area -- as this tends to have a real adverse affect on police officers and others who may see it.
