Have caught more during the day with cane pole and length of line same as pole with treble hook and piece of red cloth as bait. Don't know why the go after that thing but can't keep them off it. Did it at night too but I usually had to do the paddling with Dad doing the gigging. Brings back memeories from way back there.

in New England as a kid, pole, hook and red cloth worked great. Dad tried a 22short but it always buried the frog in mud and never could fid it. fresh wild frog legs fried with good batter-mmmmm good!!

Back in the early to mid 80s, after several days of heavy rain we used to go out to north Lakeland heading towards Green Swamp and drive down the back roads with the KC lites pointed at the ditches on the side of the road. When we saw one in reach of the 12' gig, one of us would hold a Q-beam on them and the other guy sneak around and gig it. We got 30 or more some nights, with legs 8-10 inches long on some. Sure were good!
