Troll motor question

If I use a trolling motor in salt water that is not rated for salt water....am I going to trash it?
Assuming I come straight home and wash the boat with soap/water and hose off the troll motor also

Fwiw my buddy put a freshwater trolling motor on his ranger and it rotted from the inside out with 9 months. Granted this was 10 years ago so they may be using better hardware now, but I'd watch it closely if it were me.

It's all good. I've got 3 troll motors. So if one falls apart I will grab another one and put it on there
