If I use a trolling motor in salt water that is not rated for salt water....am I going to trash it?
Assuming I come straight home and wash the boat with soap/water and hose off the troll motor also

I think it comes down to what the bearings and certain parts are made of inside.

I have done that for YEARS on my Gheenoe. 6 years and still have the same freshwater trolling motor. Not one single issue.

Done it for years on my 18 ft fisher (made by tracker, exact boat you see at bass pro) which is a freshwater boat that only sees salt water. It's the trolling motor with the foot control to turn it and power it, which I thought would rust and seize real quick, but it's been fine. All I do is rinse it off real good after and it's never seized up at all.
