MONO BACKING ON MY QUANTUM REEL. NEED HELP

You definitely have to be careful using braid. Usually the reel gears or the rod will go before the line does. That is the reason I like to use a shock leader so it will break. On my bottom rod that I use for grunts n snapper I use 30# PP and use a 50# dropper rig. If you get hung on a rock you can't break it off. So I started tying a piece of 20#mono in between the braid and dropper to give me something to break
