we used nail knots for diff diam leaders to fly lines. smooth and low profile but hard to tie while wading, never tried it with braided line. prretty similar to an albright.
If everyone learned to tie these knots (Albright, blood knot, triple or double surgeon, palomar, improved clinch and a loop knot...) that covers all of your bases.
I am enamored with knots. I learned to tie a perfect bimini twist (which is a pain in the ass), but yet have to figure out what its good for
that knot site is great, very useful, definitely saved it. I use an improved clinch mostly cuz it can be tied and untied one handed even when wet and taught and the blood and cleat knots, forgot most of the rest.when tying shoes if you do a double wrap they won't come untied and you can still untie with just a pull.
I always thought you had to be careful tying braid to mono leaders for fear of the mono getting cut by the braid. And I know braid isn't the easiet line to tie a knot into that will hold. I taught myself how to tie a bimini as well and it isn't the easiet thing to do while bobbing up and down on a boat at the same time. I find it to be a pain in the a** for inshore fishing because it seems like I go through a number of leaders in a weekend.
