Thank you that is what I need to know to relay facts to Rog!
I live in Dunedin (Pinellas County) and there are several nice tackle shops here, but none of them carry any good stuff. For the good stuff I need to go to Dogfish in Seminole. They have millions of dollars worth of stuff, but are never busy. As mentioned before most fishermen catch thier own bait so I don't think you can make a living selling shrimp or pinfish. As far as selling hooks and other terminal tackle you cannot compete against the big guys in price or selection. However if you have a nitch like flyfishing or maybe a few guides working out of your shop you might do well. I know where there are two empty shops that have everything ready to go one in Pinellas on the Dunedin Causeway and the other in Pasco on US19 on the Chotee River by Hooters.
Just my two cents worth.
Good info thank you!
Me thinks I shall be calling Rog back an tellin him to void that thought. That is the reason I asked here to get a no BS answer to save any down side.Thank you all that has been the info I needed!
I called him and gave im the heads up that a bait shop is not the best idea for his investment.Wish I could get him to think about a lil diner serving hot wings and smoked meat sandwiches but that probably would not be good either.
