Just got off the phone with buddy again and he wants me to open a bait shop down there in Tampa with him.So I told him I will go to the forum and post the question for input from the guys here.

Bait n Tackle shop will be small and carry quality live bait and some tackle for start up!Start up cap is around $15 to $20
grand so the shop has to be small.
What I would like to know is : Is one needed? Any area's in mind?

This is a 100% no BS question my buddy Roger would like to know what you think and so would I if I do decide to help him out.Thank you for any info and input,Rion!

I don't know about Tampa, but down here in the Venice area we have had 2 or 3 go under in the last year. People are fishing but I think they are catching their own bait. I hope it will work out for you.

Right now in Tampa there are two bigger tackle shops that get a lot of business. Tight lines and Bluewater supply. I have see a lot of the smaller ones come and go in the last few years. My opinion, it would be tough right now. And to be honest, I don't think as many people are fishing therefore less demand for products. And it is hard to compete against the chain box stores

In Tampa there are not a lot of public fresh water lakes like in the central part of the state to warrant a demand for live bait(shiners, works, crickets, etc

Good luck with whatever you decide
