I missed two does last week... Here is the story with a hint of sarcasm throughout, enjoy.

Figured I'd share my story for others entertainment... I'm known in my group for hitting what I'm aiming at but failing to locate what I hit... Hog hunting is a aggravating sport sometimes... New lease, new targets... Finally a place, a lease with deer on it! Had trail cam pictures of a good six or eight point on the property so I was set up to wait on him to show himself. Well, I've never seen a buck from a stand before let alone day light due to crappy lease locations. It's archery season so of course bow in head atop a nice tripod stand at the location of the six point feeding grounds. All of the sudden (love when story tellers say that), a 2 in spike... yes a TWO INCH SPIKE, comes to the foreground approximately 20 feet away and what happens? Probably the same thing that happens to everyone the first time they see a buck or deer period in a hunting situation. That's right... Buck/Deer fever! Couldn't shoot this buck, but nonetheless got me fired up. Never saw him coming and he didn't stick around long. Just after he exited my sights, then comes the presence of a doe and what appeared to be her older spotless fawn approximately 40 yards away but probably further due to being 20 feet up. I checked the fawn and it appeared to be old enough. I didn't have much cover so I eased my hand up to my bow and pulled it up to a shooting position. Slowly I clipped my release on to the string loop and as the doe looped back towards the wood line I quickly pulled my bow up to position and pulled the string back and set my sight right onto the does shoulder. As she moved back to the trees, with a slight lead, I let loose! And just then, at that very second... that's right, you guessed it! WHACK! IT'S A HIT!!! ALL PINE TREE!!!!! At the time of release, she walked right behind a pine tree that I was oblivious too and 10 feet up into that tree sets my broadhead buried arrowhead deep into the bark. Utter disappointment! But nevertheless an interesting experience for not only first buck sighting from a tree stand, and the first oppurtunity to shoot a deer period from a stand, but the first oppurtunity to shoot a bow at ANYTHING moving and living. EPIC FAIL! But wait... THATS NOT ALL! Days later, same bat location, same bat time... Last day of the week to hunting.. Last morning last oppurtunity for weeks.. etc etc etc.... Different doe... similiar result... Impatients takes over and I'll save the rest of the gory details but yes.... second EPIC FAIL. Doe all alone... open shot... No trees... and MISS numero dos! Moral of the story is....... EMPTY FREEZER!

I hope you all have had better luck than I and I hope gen gun will proved to be much more freezer friendly! Thanks for reading my epic tail of failure. Below is a picture of my epic fail and the deer that have survived me thus far as we have caught them on candid!

Don't get discouraged, happens to all with first few shots at game with a bow. Just learn from it, you will learn more everytime you go. You will learn to be more confident ,and beat the buck fever when you make a shot, and hopefully the freezer will start filling up!

That's one dead pine tree! How did you hit the only tree in the clearing, there should be a shirt tail hanging off that arrow...lol

I'm sorry, I do feel your pain, but you're not a bow hunter until you miss um high, miss um low, hit a tree, and drop an arrow that hits every rung of the ladder while trying to take a deer.

did you have to trail the tree far? any pics? I hit every tree branch in the catskills til I got a flatter shooting bow.
