Walking to the truck at dark, I decided to go check a feeder on the way there. I walked in and there was 2 sherman tank boar hogs standing in the edge of the woods staged up at the feeder. It was getting pretty dark and not much time for them to make a move. They walked down the hammock, then out in the open, but way past the feeder. Then they decided to get MMA/WWE match on each other. One of them got clear and I found a tree about 2" in diameter to get a some sort of a rest on. Put the crosshairs on his neck and squeezed one off. The smoke didn't clear so I ran up in front of it to see and I saw 4 feet straight up in the air. Cool deal!
Hog is kicking, drawing dust angels. I said "oh boy, here we go again".....I just felt it coming..I threw the ML down got my 357 out and sprinted the 70 yards to the hog to watch it get up and haul ass. I heard it coming towards a mowed trail, so I did a Barry sanders cut and turned around just in time to see the hog plowing on it's shoulders thru the nastiest thicket you can possibly imagine. I could still hear it flopping around and am pretty sure it expired. However, there aint no way this cracker was going in that thicket after it. Gonna go look after the hunt in the morning. It's supposed to be low 40's tonight
A forum member pulled a double on 2 bucks on a WMA down the road from me)one last night and one this morning). He doesn't get on here much, but I hope he posts up. The 6pt he got is a darn good one. Bigger than many 8's I have seen from this area
This has been a very slow year saw far for most in our lease. I've seen several deer with a few bucks but nothing that I wanted to shoot. Today I didn't see a legal buck at all, saw 11 deer and only two little bucks one was a nubbing and the other was a 3 point that had a 2" spike on his right side and the left side was about 3" forked but he had been in a fight and broke it off. The crazy thing was he must have cracked his skull because the left side was dangling down by his eye. I've never seen anything like that before.
