Stupid QDM! They should have killed him 3 years ago!

I promise you I know they were trying to lol! he must have had a track like a doe to live that long. We can't kill them all as 1.5 yr old bucks.

Qdm works but it's suited for still hunting. We do somrthing similar on private property in shady grove and kill nice bucks doing it. The problem is these are massive dog leases and you can't regulate them tightly as needed. Heck you can't get some members to quit shooting spikes much less anything bigger than that lol!

I used to be in the lease across the street. Eagle Prarie and I was in Dipnvat and there are some true monsters in that area. Its hard to believe with the sandy soils in that area that the deer can get that big but it just goes to show that age is the most important factor. Last year the 7th largest registered deer in the state was killed by Mike Hunters daughter on his lease which borders Eagle Prarie. I do agree with you about the weights of the deer though,I have only seen one deer heavier than 180 and most mature bucks are in the 160 to 175 range.

Her buck was a really good one but like you said there's some a lot of nice deer all in that area. Just the other day my buddy's grandpa killed a 9pt in eagle prarie with a crossbow that was a good buck.

Around 10+ yrs ago foley had a deer pen back in that area that was stocked with does and bucks from wisconsin. When they closed the pen, they turned what deer were left in the pen loose as they were semi- wild. One hypothesis of why those deer in that certain area grow larger than the rest is that the genes from those non-native deer are mixed into the present day population.

I can tell you that my good friend has a house bordering mike's lease and they have several horse pens behind their house where they have seen some fine bucks. His wife took a picture of a 10pt several days ago that he said would go into the mid 110s while it fed around with the horses lol!
